MacroFactor is a popular calorie-tracking and adaptive-TDEE app built by the Stronger By Science team. BiteNote runs entirely inside Telegram and also offers adaptive TDEE. Both products tend to attract the same persona — someone who treats nutrition scientifically and isn't satisfied with a static "BMR × 1.5" calculator.

This article compares them objectively. If MacroFactor fits you better, we'll say so plainly.

Where we're similar

Both apps: - Calculate TDEE adaptively (no static "BMR × 1.5") - Track weight with trend (no reactivity to single-day fluctuations) - Offer data export when leaving - Are evidence-based — no "lose 20 lb in 30 days" claims

This isn't a zero-sum game. Some of our users came from MacroFactor wanting Telegram; others may move the other way for deeper coaching.

Practical test — which is for you

Scenario 1: "I'm at KFC, how fast can I log a Twister?" - BiteNote: photo → 3 seconds → done - MacroFactor: photo via AI photo logging → ~5 seconds (both available in subscription)

Scenario 2: "I want a progress report after 4 weeks" - BiteNote: /today shows MRR + weight, no formal "send report" - MacroFactor: dedicated weekly check-ins with recommended adjustments

Scenario 3: "I'm logging in Polish/German/Japanese" - BiteNote: full native support, 30+ pSEO pages on local foods (Polish sernik, pierogi) - MacroFactor: English-only

FAQ

Can I use both?

Yes. BiteNote for quick photo logs on the go, MacroFactor as a deeper "weekly review." Data isn't synced between apps — you'd manually export from one and import into the other, or pick one.

Does BiteNote have a better food database than MacroFactor?

No. MacroFactor has their own ~2M-item curated database with manual verification. BiteNote relies on USDA FoodData Central + Open Food Facts (public sources) + Gemini knowledge for coverage. For mainstream foods this is enough; for niche supplements or specific Trader Joe's items, MacroFactor wins.

What if I change my mind after a month?

Both apps offer export. From BiteNote → MacroFactor, run GDPR export in /account and import manually. From MacroFactor → BiteNote, similar.

Does BiteNote work outside the US?

Yes — it's Telegram-native, multi-currency (USD/EUR/PLN), and 15 languages. MacroFactor works internationally too but only in English with USD pricing.
